Trip #2    Cowboys, Indians, Princesses and Queens

After the stop at the new bridge bypassing Hoover Dam, we had lunch in Kingman, Arizona, at Mr. D’z Route 66 diner.  It’s conveniently located across the street from the Powerhouse Visitor Center on, oddly enough, Route 66.

On the outskirts of Tucson is Saguaro National Park.  For more photos see the Photos Pages for

the “Cowboys, Indians, Princesses and Queens trip.

The park is best viewed from the 8.3 mile loop road.

Not too long after entering New Mexico is Las Cruces.  Just outside, the historic Mexican town of La Mesilla.  In the old West, the town was known for its cantinas and festivals.  Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett and Poncho Villa roamed these parts.  In fact, up until about 1881, Mesilla was the most important village in the area.
